Create Your Account

Creating an account takes under a minute. Go to the sign-up page and complete the form. (Sign-ups open at launch — join the notify list in the meantime.)

1
Enter your name and email

Use an email you have regular access to — it's used for password resets and any reminders you enable.

2
Choose a strong password

Your password is stored using bcrypt hashing — it's never saved in plaintext. If you lose it we issue a reset, not a recovery.

3
Decide on AI consent (optional)

Opt in to AI-powered features (Atlas, Snap food, recipe import) if you want them. When enabled, only the data a feature needs is sent to Anthropic's Claude. You can change this in Settings at any time.

Leave it unchecked and you can still use everything else — AI features will prompt you to enable consent when you first open them.

Build Your Plan

Onboarding takes about two minutes and sets up both your training and your nutrition targets. HealthX asks a few questions and builds a plan around your answers — you can change any of it later.

1
Pick your goal

Weight loss, muscle gain, maintenance, body recomposition, or Hyrox race prep. Your goal sets the shape of both your training split and your calorie/macro targets.

2
Tell us about you

Sex, age, height, current weight and target rate. HealthX uses these to calculate your starting calorie and macro targets.

3
Choose your training style

Select a split (e.g. upper/lower, full-body, or a Hyrox block) and your available days per week. HealthX generates a multi-week mesocycle to match.

4
Review & start

You land on your Today screen with your first session queued and your macro targets set. That's it — you're ready to train and log.

Sign in with your email and password. Sessions are kept in a secure, HttpOnly cookie on the web (or your device keychain in the native app). If you forget your password, use Forgot password to receive a reset link valid for one hour.

Free & Pro

HealthX has two tiers. Start free and upgrade when you want the AI and planning tools.

Free — NZD $0
Guided training & logging, nutrition & macro tracking, barcode & food search, weight & progress logging.
Pro — NZD $20/mo
Everything in Free, plus Atlas AI coach, recipe import + meal plans, smart shopping lists, photo food estimates, custom & Hyrox training, transformation challenges, progress photos.
Pro is NZD $20/month or $199/year (~17% off) and starts with a 14-day free trial. Manage or cancel anytime from Settings — no email required. Billing runs through Stripe; we never see your card number.

Your Programme

Most apps log workouts. HealthX programmes them. Your plan is a mesocycle — a multi-week block with built-in volume progression and a deload week, the same approach serious lifters and coaches use.

  • Progression: volume ramps week to week so you keep adapting, then a deload week backs off to let you recover before the next block.
  • Splits: upper/lower, full-body, push/pull/legs and more, matched to your available days.
  • Your week: the calendar shows each session, rest days, and any shopping day. Missed a session? Reschedule it without losing your place.
HealthX assumes you know what RIR (Reps in Reserve) and a deload are. The whole app is built to honour that — clear numbers, no fluff.

Logging a Workout

Open today's session and log it set by set as you go.

1
Log each set

Enter weight, reps, and RIR for each set. HealthX tracks your estimated 1RM and flags personal records automatically.

2
Swap or fix on the fly

Swap an exercise for an alternative, reorder your session, or fix a set you mis-logged — mid-workout, without breaking your history.

3
Finish

Completing a session updates your volume, progress and (on iOS) writes the workout back to Apple Health so your Activity rings close.

Hyrox & Race Prep

Pick Hyrox at onboarding (or switch to it later) and enter your race date. HealthX plans backwards through base, build, peak and taper phases, with conditioning blocks that ramp toward race day — all eight stations and the 1 km runs between them.

End of a Mesocycle

When a block finishes, HealthX gives you a clear decision rather than dumping you back to zero:

  • Keep going — start the next progressive block.
  • Deload again — take another lighter week if you need it.
  • Switch goal — move from, say, a cut to maintenance — without losing your training history.

Transformation Challenges

Join time-boxed challenges — solo or with your crew — to keep the streak alive and the volume honest. Challenges track a target over a set window (for example a 30-day consistency block or a structured cut) and show your progress, streak and where you sit versus others. Challenges are a Pro feature.

Macros & Targets

Your calorie and macro targets are set at onboarding from your goal and body stats, and they flex with your training day. Your Today screen shows calories and protein / carbs / fat remaining, so you always know what's left.

Logging Food

Log a meal in seconds — four ways:

1
Barcode

Scan a product barcode straight into your day's log. HealthX looks it up against the Open Food Facts database.

2
Search

Type a food name to search foods and your saved meals.

3
Meal library

Pick from meals and recipes you've saved — macros are precomputed per serving.

4
Snap a meal (Pro)

Take or pick a photo and Claude estimates the dish and macros. The photo isn't stored after the request; the estimate you confirm is saved to your private custom-foods list for next time.

Recipes & Import

Save recipes once and they appear in your library with per-serving macros precomputed.

Import any recipe by URL (Pro). Paste a link — or an Instagram / TikTok caption — and HealthX parses it (structured recipe data where present, AI fallback otherwise), maps each ingredient to a nutrition entry, and computes totals. Most NZ and AU sites work out of the box.

Meal Plans

Build a plan for the week from your recipes and meals. Your meal plan drives your macro targets per day and feeds straight into your shopping list. Meal plans are a Pro feature.

Shopping Lists

Turn your meal plan into a shopping list in one tap. HealthX rolls every ingredient across the week into a single, categorised list with regional price estimates (NZ → AU → US). Shopping lists are a Pro feature.

Weight & Progress

Log your weight and body measurements over time and (on Pro) upload progress photos. HealthX shows your weight trend and, with your training and nutrition data, an honest view of whether your goal is on track.

Progress photos stay private to your account. In a crew, your weight is only ever shared as a relative change, never an absolute number.

Atlas — Your AI Coach

Atlas is an always-on assistant, powered by Anthropic's Claude, that knows your training plan, recent sessions, and meals. Ask why a set felt heavy, get a swap when a recipe is fat-heavy for your day, or talk through a deload.

  • Weekly recap of your training, nutrition and weight trends.
  • Daily nudges when you drift — a protein gap, a missed session.
  • Proposals, not silent edits. When Atlas suggests a change to your calories, macros or training, it shows you the proposal — you decide whether to apply it.
Atlas is a Pro feature and requires AI consent (opt-in). Your conversations are stored so the chat has continuity; you can clear them any time from inside the app.

Apple Health & Watch (iOS)

On the iOS app, turn on Settings → Sync with Apple Health and iOS will prompt for permissions. With your consent, HealthX:

1
Reads

Your latest weight, daily steps, active and basal energy, resting heart rate, workouts, and last night's sleep.

2
Writes

Completed HealthX sessions are written back to Apple Health as workouts, so your Apple Watch Activity rings close automatically.

Apple Health data is used only to power health features inside HealthX — never for advertising and never shared. You can revoke access any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → HealthX. Data already in Apple Health stays on your device, owned by you.

Crews

Crews are private, invite-only accountability groups with a shared feed for posts and reactions. Create a crew or join one with a code. Crews are designed to keep you honest without the pressure of a public leaderboard.

Privacy first: crews are invite-only, and your weight is only ever shared as a change, never a number.

Settings

From Settings you can adjust your goal and targets, switch training style, manage your subscription, set your theme, toggle Apple Health sync (iOS), manage AI consent, and control notifications. Changing your goal re-shapes your plan without wiping your history.

Notifications

HealthX can send push notifications — for example a weekly meal-plan reminder or a nudge from Atlas. Notifications are strictly opt-in; we never push without your explicit permission, and you can turn them off any time in Settings.

iPhone / iPad: Apple only allows web push once the app is added to your Home Screen. Open HealthX in Safari, tap Share → Add to Home Screen, open it from the new icon, then enable notifications in Settings.

Mobile & PWA

HealthX installs to your phone's home screen from the browser — no app store needed. On iOS: open HealthX in Safari, tap the Share icon, then Add to Home Screen. On Android: tap the install prompt or your browser menu's Install app. Once installed it runs full-screen and updates itself automatically.

Your Data

Your data is yours.

  • Access: the app shows all of your data directly; email us for a structured export.
  • Correction: edit your profile, logs, recipes and history in the app.
  • Deletion: Settings → Delete account performs a full, irreversible deletion of every row associated with your account — training, food, recipes, weight, photos, subscriptions and push subscriptions. Any Apple Health data on your phone is untouched.

Privacy & Security

Passwords are bcrypt-hashed and all traffic runs over TLS. We never sell your data and we have no advertisers. AI features are opt-in and run on your data only — your numbers are never used to train any model.
